Safety:
Elder activates the immune system and could increase the
symptoms of autoimmune diseases.
Elder berry is safe to take during pregnancy and lactation.
Drug Interactions: Elder interferes with immunosuppressants.

Fresh Ground Cinnamon
Latin Name: Cinnamomum verum (a.k.a. C. zeylanicum)
Family: Lauraceae
Common Names: true cinnamon, Ceylon cinnamon, Sri Lankan
cinnamon, sweet cinnamon
Parts used: bark
Herbal Actions: antispasmodic, astringent, antifungal, antiseptic,
antiviral, blood purifier, carminative, digestive aid, hypoglycemic,
hypotensive, warming stimulant
Drug Interactions: Do not use cinnamon with antidiabetic medications,
blood thinners, statins and other cardiovascular medications or NSAIDs.

Star Anise
Latin Name: Pimpinella anisum
Family: Apiaceae
Common Names: Aniseed, Anix, Hui Xiang (Chinese name)
Parts used: Seeds are medicinal, aerial parts are edible
Herbal Actions: Antispasmodic, antibiotic, antifungal, aromatic,
carminitive, expectorant, galactagogue.
Safety: Anise can cause photosensitivity and should be avoided
by people with certain skin conditions.
Drug Interactions: Do not take with pharmaceutical or holistic
anticoagulant medicines
